Cooking class in Hoi An

Hoi An has dozens of places to visit for the unique and fun cooking class on the Vietnam holiday packages. The preferred cooking class is entirely based on personal preference. Some are full day affairs combined with boating or cycling trips to local herb gardens or fishing villages to source fresh ingredients, while others may be a simple one or two hour event that is more of an abridged crash course.

Cooking classes are practical for travellers of all ages, and gives the opportunity to cook a wide range of Vietnamese dishes, such as beef pho, grilled chicken with banana flower salad, lemongrass shrimp grilled in banana leaf, and clay pot fish with fresh dill.

There are plenty of things to consider in the process of organizing the cooking class in Hoi An.

The style of cooking class can vary with a choice of the more hands-on and doing the prep and cooking yourself or the less involved demonstration style. The hands-on class is typically favoured because it includes practical tuition and increases the ability to recreate the delicious dishes on arriving home.

Many of the classes include a guided trip to the local market to source the fresh ingredients that will later be used to prepare the delicious Vietnamese meals. These classes can start early in the day, such as 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Other classes take place without the market trip attached, and those are great for the tourists only interested in the actual cookery experience.

The small group sizes for the cooking classes are by far the most desirable option. Classes are likely to vary in size with up to 15-20 people for a general class, while a private class can be limited to 2 people. Before booking a cooking class make sure to consider the type of cooking environment that can let you completely thrive. A small class is essential for those that want the more one-to-one guidance from the chef.

The cost of the cooking classes in Hoi An on the Vietnam travel can vary with a typical price in the region of $15 to $40 per person for a two hour cooking class.

While many of the cooking classes are independent, there are also several popular places for a cooking class in Hoi An that are attached a restaurant. Many of these cooking classes are great for the serious student who really wants to put their knife skills and cooking knowledge to the test.

Also, there are more in-depth classes that go beyond simply preparing a hand full of mouth-watering dishes. They include learning more the basis of Vietnamese food, nutrition and culture, while getting to cook a few of the featured dishes, such as stuffed squid with pork or fried wontons with crab meat. This type of in-depth class costs about $45 per person.

Even though it is possible to book the cooking classes with short notice, it is generally more practical to reserve a spot in the better known classes, especially those that are heavily reviewed in places like Trip Advisor. The well booked classes often need 1 or 2 days notice ahead of the planned class time.
