Special events and festivals is an indispensable part of any countries including Cambodia. From January to December, the Cambodians are seemingly happy in the entire year and they are busy with numerous festivals and events. The Lunar New Year (from January to February), the popular festival of many countries like Chinese and Vietnamese, is considered as the festival that open a year of the Cambodians following the Victory Day (January 7th). Next is the Woman’s Day (March 8th), Khmer New Year (April 14th - 16th), Bonn Visak Bochea (Mid May – one day, to memorize the Buddha), Royal Ploughing Ceremony (Late May – one day), Start of Buddhist Lent (Mid July – two days, mark the beginning of the three – months Buddhist Lent), Constitution Day (September 24th), Mid Autumn Festival (September - October), Spirit Offering Festival (September – October, 15 days), End of Buddhist Lent (October – November, one month), Paris Peace Agreement (October 23rd), Independence Day (November 9th) and end a year with Water Festival (Mid November – 3 days).
