Like other Southeast Asia country, Cambodia also has Oriental customs like showing respect to the elders, telling your parents where you are going to and when you will come back… Besides, Cambodia also has its own customs. The Cambodian thinks that the head is the most important part of the body which contains the soul of a person and they will assert that you are disrespectful if you point your feet to their head – because in the Cambodian customs, the feet is the lowest part of the body which is not pure. Moreover, in a meeting, the Cambodians always show its respects to its partners by “sampeah” gesture (an action that two people slightly bow their body and make their palms like praying) and they will let the others talk more than them.
