Islam is practiced by about 2% of Cambodian population. However, there are only about half a dozen Muslims fluent in Arabic, the language of the Koran, in all of Cambodia. Majority of Cambodia’s Muslims are descendants of Chams who migrated from the central Vietnam after the final defeat of the Kingdom of Champa by the Vietnamese in 15th century. The part left are Malay minorities in Cambodia.
