Day 4: Battambang – Siem Reap (B, D)
The boat trip from Battambang to Siem Reap is probably the most beautiful boat trip in Cambodia. The trip will take about 4-7 hours, depending of the water level. In the afternoon we will arrive in Siem Reap, home of Angkor Wat, one of the seven world wonders. At 19.00 hours we are expected to have a buffet dinner at the Koulen II restaurant. During this buffet we will be entertained by traditional Khmer dancers who shall perform traditional Apsara dances.
Day 5: Siem Reap Tour (B, L)
One of the highlights of this tour is of course a visit to Angkor, the largest temple complex in the world. With the temples of Angkor, Cambodia has something to offer that none of its neighbors can rival.
To visit all temples will take us a week. Unfortunately we don't have that much time so we will visit with an experienced guide only the major and most impressive temples like Angkor Thom, Baphoun, Bayon, Elephant Terrace and of course the most famous one, Angkor Wat. You will be surprised by the unmatched architecture of these temples. This temple complex was discovered by the Frenchman Henri Mouhout in 1860 and was totally overwhelmed by the impressive jungle. Most temples are still in the same condition as when they were discovered in 1860. You can still feel the mysterious atmosphere as you probably witnessed in the movie Tombraider, which was partly filmed at this location. We will make this Angkor tour not with luxury touring cars but in Cambodian style, by TukTuk.
Day 6: Siem Reap Travel (B)
Another day in Siem Reap is your own leisure day you manage the trip by yourself without tour guide and driver. For those who want to see more of the magnificent temples of Angkor it is possible to rent a bike and make your own tour throughout the forest of Angkor. But Siem Reap has more to offer than only the temples of Angkor. You could visit The Cultural Village to get a good impression of Cambodian culture and daily life. Other possibilities are The War Museum or the floating village. But of course if you are in the mood for a relaxed day at the swimming pool, well, the choice is yours.
